LINKS: The Women's Ministry of Colonial Baptist Church
Leading ~ Impacting ~ Nurturing ~ Knowing ~ Serving

What is LINKS?
Our unique women's ministry called LINKS is being developed with you in mind. Our desire is to serve the interests of the entire Colonial fellowship and to live out our God-given roles as women.

  • Leading - developing potential Godly leadership by example, experience, and exposure to Biblical principles.
  • Impacting - creating opportunities for one to make a difference in another's life.
  • Nurturing - encouraging our friends as we bear one another's burdens.
  • Knowing - understanding God, His Word, and each other better.
  • Serving - reaching others by giving of ourselves and our gifts.
Our Purpose
As women of Colonial Baptist, depending on God’s all-sufficient Word, together we will work to develop obedient relationships to Christ as the Spirit transforms our character into Christ-likeness.  By giving of ourselves to our local fellowship, we will strive to nurture and equip women for growth and service, as well as develop a comprehensive Biblical view of womanhood.  We will also minister to those outside of our church body in order to reach our community with the Gospel of Christ.

"From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love."
Ephesians 4:16

LINKS and Jewels
The ladies of Colonial are organizing to meet the needs of widows in our church family. This new ministry will provide practical ways to help and encourage these ladies. We will be providing transportation, errands and fellowship. Anyone interested in this ministry can contact Debbie Crane (rides), Bethany Varner (lunches/visits), or Marilyn Phillips for general info.

Helper by Design: God’s Perfect Plan for Women in Marriage
By Elyse Fitzpatrick
The Bible teaches that both men and women are created equally in the image of God, but does that mean that there aren’t fundamental differences in the way that men and women image Him?  God created all women with a very specific calling: that of being her husband’s helper.  Elyse will examine how women reflect God by being helpers (whether single or married), what that helping looks like, and will build a model of true biblical womanhood.  While studying this helpful resource, we will enjoy the fruit of prayer, lecture, homework and group discussion.

Heroes of the Faith: Part 2
Hebrews 11:38 parenthetically comments on the named and unnamed lives that moved the world through their exemplary faith.  The writer exclaims that these were “men of whom the world was not worthy.”  Come join us in a study of such Bible characters.  As God molded the lives of these “Heroes of the Faith,” a careful study of their lives will help us find biblical principles and practical applications so that we might live triumphantly for Christ in this 21st century.

The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment
by Jeremiah Burroughs
In this classic book on contentment, Puritan Jeremiah Burroughs (1600-1646) presents two major themes: Peace among believers of differing backgrounds and convictions, and peace within believers during “sad and sinking times.”  Burroughs explains what Christian contentment is, points out how Christ teaches it, and develops ten of its fruits.  He then sets biblical contentment against sinful discontentment.  As you take part in the study of this book and the accompanying Scriptures, you will find yourself in the company of many generations of Christians whose lives and families have been deeply impacted by Burroughs’ pen.  Prayer, sessions, homework and group discussion will come together each week to drive these truths deep.

Dear Ladies of Colonial:

Our church is dedicated to the principle that both godly womanhood and motherhood are to be honored and nurtured in the local assembly. Nothing is as attractive as the spirit and countenance of a woman who is fully submitted to the Holy Spirit of God, and nothing is as precious and enduring as a woman who is committed to following God' s Word.

As the pastor of CBC, let me personally invite every woman of Colonial to sharpen her spiritual life in one of our LINKS Bible Studies. Through the ministry of the Word of God and the fellowship with other Christ-like women, you will be encouraged to become a woman of grace and truth. You will also be challenged to model in your daily life what you learn to be truth from God' s Word. In addition to the Bible Studies, several other opportunities are designed for your spiritual development, and I trust that you will find great encouragement and joy through the LINKS ministry of Colonial.

Pastor Daniel
